My Story
About Sophia L. Ellis
Sophia L. Ellis is a Queens-born filmmaker, producer, and writer whose work blends storytelling, culture, and purpose. A U.S. Army veteran with a Master’s in Project Management and a Digital Cinematography degree from Full Sail University,
Sophia has written and directed several acclaimed indie projects including SuperMoon, #WhoKilledJabariMovie, Call Waiting, and My King Looks Like Me—a semi-finalist in the Louisiana LGBT+ Film Festival. Through her production company, MBTL Studios (Melanin Behind the Lens), she is dedicated to amplifying Black narratives and creating space for authentic voices in film and media. Her bold vision and cinematic storytelling continue to challenge perspectives and inspire audiences worldwide.
